The results and what I learnt from my first paid commercial shoot.

Recently I was approached by a friend who was partaking in the design of a website package for a local Hobart business. The requirement analysis deemed that the website would require images that depicted what they do and also the capabilities of the organisation (a gym, ultrasound and so fourth). I was a little nervous about the shoot, because I felt maybe it could be over my head and I may not meet the demands of the business however time would tell in due course.

In the end, I’m left with 44 images which will be given to the business. Some of those images I’m not particularly happy wth, they are OK but there is definately some better ones in the group. I think as a photographer, you can never be completely happy with your work and will always find fault in your work. That being said, there are a fair few images which I was happy with and included below is just a couple.

The monetary value of the shoot wasn’t a huge enticement, I was more looking forward to the opportunity to learn to associate with clients in understanding what they want and then working with them to create my own interpretation. In the future this will definately be used as a base with the client so I can understand what they want and then can move from there.

All images shot with a Canon 350D / Canon 24–70 2.8 / Canon 10–22 / Canon 580ex
