Motorised panning head for timelapse has arrived
2008-04-09
I really love timelapse photography and wanted to progress further by getting a motorised panning head but was deterred thinking it would cost big bucks. Turns out you can get a package for moderately cheap ($160usd inc shipping to Australia) and all left is needed is 8 batteries (outch) and a metal bracket head made to suit. I’ve included below a video showing the head in use and also where you can purchase it. Wish my camera remote replacement would arrive already!

Nice toy, and a very good price!
I look forward to seeing some of your results from it.
Thanks for the interest Martin
I’m very eager to get out using it that’s for sure, will keep you posted.
I have just ordered mine, hehe. Did you put your in work yet? I wonder where I can get that L shape metal so I can mount the camera on..
I’m still waiting for my replacement interval remote to arrive which is a bugga. My L shape metal was provided by a friend, it’s actually the metal they use for certain street signs in Tasmania so it’s quite thin and bends well. If you’re having trouble getting the metal perhaps ask around at some metal places or industrial places as I’m sure they’d have some scraps? It’s quite small so you don’t need too much.
Be sure to let me know how you go with it as you have some great work on your website and I’m sure you’ll do some fantastic stuff with it.
Thanks Alex, I am still waiting for it to arrive
I guess I will check out my local store to see if they have anything I can work with. Remember to show us your work when you got the remote, you’ve got stuff here!
