Abandoned Building - Light Trails

2008-05-04

Exploring around a old abandoned building awaiting to be demolished. A little scary but fortunately we were able to lock ourselves in so once in there wasn’t going to be anyone else bothering us until we left which settled the nerves slightly.

For this shot I would only turn my torch on once I was in each cubicle. So I would walk into one then turn my torch off and spin around in circles then torch off and walk into the other cubicle and repeat spinning like a fool.

  1. Well, if the end result is a good looking shot like this, you can spin around like a fool a lot more.

I can imagine UE being quite hard on the nerves in larger buildings. Locking the entry behind you is a good trick though. I wish we had some old larger buildings around us, but the Finnish countryside doesn’t really have much to offer in that department. Other than abandoned homes.

  2. Hi Ramin

Always great to hear from others interested in urban exploring. Just out of interest how did you come across my blog? :)
Tasmania is very much the same as you mention with it being relatively small and topside locations to explore are very rare. Really the only advice I can give is try get in touch with some other explorers. I’ll keep my ears open if I hear of any Finish explorers and I’ll drop you a line if you want

  3. Honestly, I don’t exactly remember how I came by your blog. IIRC through Epic Edits list of recommended blogs. Or some other similar list.

But I must admit that my interest is more in rural exploring with a large interest in the human element of times gone by. Luckily I’ve recently gotten access to a couple of abandoned homes in the countryside, so I should be able to get some interesting shots of them at some point.

Yes it certainly was nice knowing the entrance was locked behind us
