Taken on a quick break during lectures at uni today in Sandy Bay, Tasmania. I noticed these flowers as I was travelling home yesterday from uni and perhaps it may be just me but they reminded me of Japan in some ways with the beautiful colours they have in different seasons.
A little dissapointed that I dropped my camera just a tiny bit and the Canon 50 1.8 now has focus issues. Fourtunately it’s a cheap lens to replace but still bit of a downer argh fun lens too! I recomend it for everyones kit.

According to Lightroom Killer Tips (Click) Lightroom 2 has been released and is officially shipping at $299USD. For those not familiar with the new version here are a few bits in the new version
Dodging/Burning, Multi monitor supoprt, improved catalogue and keywording, better photoshop integration and more
Sounds promising! Can’t wait to get my hands on it as I decided not to touch the beta as Adobe warned of capability issues which could possibly occur when the official version was released. But just something which I don’t understand that a few people have brought to my attention since posting is the price difference between the USA and Australia. If I was to purchase LR2 in the US it would cost $299 whilst if to purchase in Australia $539.. Strange

It’s so cold at the moment, 7 degrees for most of the day until it warms to a scorching 10 degrees. To keep warm I love my daily fix of coffee as I read of the problems encoutered by less developed countries who receive hazardous waste for quick financial gains. The reading is not by choice but for an essay but fourtunately it’s not too boring as my playlist of downtempo music like tosca, kruder & dorfmeister and blah adds a nice background tune.
This was shot with my Canon 350D, Canon 50 1.8 (nifty fifty) of a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine with freshly ground indonesian beans.

Just more Canon 5D mark II speculation courtesy of a user at POTN
Photography Monthly (UK magazine) have added to rumors that the Canon 5D replacement will be 16MP, Digic III Live view, 3″ screen and weather sealing. Realistically it’s doubtful this article has any credibility as they were probably informed by the same websites which I’ve linked to in the past but the features do seem realistic and I couldn’t see why Canon wouldn’t deliver them.

A little under an hour out of Hobart and is worth the early morning drive for photographers as the fog sits in the valley until lunch time which is quite stunning but a little cold. I find composing a shot to include reflections can make the shot much more visually appealing which would otherwise been quite boring? Just something which might be worth considering when composing.
I’ve been on the hunt for a new bookshelf recently to house my growing photography book collection. Some stunning books by Peter Dombrovskis, Wolfgang Glowacki and more sit underneath my desk collecting dusk which should be on a bookshelf so others can appreciate them also. Anyhow I’ve been looking at designs and over at WebUrbanist designs were on the interesting side (Click) which may be of interest..
I want a job at google! This behind the scenes is quite amazing, jealous! (Click)

At this point I didn’t realise there were cows in the paddock until they began appearing from no where in my view finder. Truth be told I’m actually quite a wuss around non domestic animals that I’m not familiar with which made it a little off putting as a considerable amount of cows charged in my direction. Initially I thought they were going to jump the fence and trample me but they only wanted to pose, more photos of that soon.

The Hobart rivulet has many openings as you slowly make your way up these tunnels underneath the city of Hobart. This is one shot in the opening which shows a city building back on as the night sky passes over.
I love DealExtreme.. A lens hood for my Canon 10-22 was going to cost around $17 on ebay but through DealExtreme $10

I came across an interesting article on the Sydney Morning Herald website (Click) which discusses the potential ugly side of entering competitions. Whenever entering a competition I’m quick to check the terms and conditions which state the rights I may retain if entering the competition. Such competitions which transfer the copyright to the organisation occur regardless of you winning the competition or not. Is it really worth it sometimes?
It’s a growing occurence for many who soon learn after entering a competition that their image copyright was transferred to the competiton owner which is obviously frustrating. At the end of the day it really is the big organisations being the real winners as their image library expands which would have otherwise costed millions.

It was only recently that I posted about Moo Cards (Click) and how great they’ve been received by others. As I was making the post it occurred to me the images on some of the cards were really quite old and it was time to shake things up with some new shots and include my blog address on the cards.
Since my first Purchase in January 2007, Moo have changed a lot with implementation of not only flickr but other social networks including facebook. One thing that caught my interest were little plastic carry cases for your moo cards. I’ve managed to fit 14 in the case and it has made its way onto my keyring. The size of the case seems ok for a keyring but maybe a little bigger then my other things but it’s ok.
I received a little card with my order that offers 20% off to new buyers but I’m not sure if this is limited to one order or can be used by many anyhow the code is ‘EWSCCV‘
