Park Beach, Tasmania - Seascape Long Exposure

A shot from this evening where it was cold and windy, not nice conditions to be shooting in but I got some interesting shots which made it worth it. I think this was originally going to be exposed for 7 minutes however I had to cut it short to a little over 5 minutes as there were strange people in the carpark near by little civic but all was ok.

How do you have such little noise? I use a 400D and my shots always seem to come out as being fairly noisy. Do you use the in-camera noise reduction?
