Ralphs Bay, Lauderdale
2009.01.09
Lauderdale is a beautiful little place, I pass through it often as I make my way to a favourite local South Arm (1, 2, 3, 4). This shot was captured on the side of the road on sunset of Ralphs Bay, the location of a proposed canal estate which isn’t so cool (more on that here). As usual, shot with a Canon 350D, Canon 10–22 and Cokin nd grads.
What are your thoughts on a horizontal scrolling front gallery page? Yay or nay? I’m a little bored of the current flash front.

Nice shot, would also look great as a panoramic with the top cropped off I think…
Re the horizontal scrolling gallery — I never used to be a fan of horizontal scrolling but lately I have taken a liking to it and have even been thinking about making my portfolio horizontal scrolling… so yeah, yay I say
Hey Beau! I think you’re right with the panoramic crop, looks much better
.
I’ve found in regards to a horizontal scrolling pages it seems the traditionalist crowd are against it which has left me a little undecided. I don’t want people to instantly flick off my page after one image as they don’t like the layout. I’m very tempted to, I love the way it presents the images to the viewer but ahh decisions!
I think this is a great example of a horizontal style portfolio… http://www.deanbradshaw.com.au/
Though, I guess there isn’t really any ‘scrolling’…
Beautiful example
This is nice too.. http://www.hyku.com/photography/
So Beau when shall we be having a photo expedition in Tas? Always looking for a photographer to do some walking/exploring with
Yeah, I like that one, too.
Haha, I would love to come down to Tas, it’s the only state in Aus I haven’t been to yet, but at the moment i’m saving my pennies for my trip to Europe! Possibly visit Tas some time in 2010, though…
When are you coming up to the Gold Coast for an expedition!?
Impressive image with bags of commercial appeal. Once again showing impressive results from relatively basic equipment. Keep up the good work.
