Long Exposure

An edit of a similar photograph posted recently. I’m in two minds and not sure which I prefer as I really like the golden afternoon light in the colour version.

Which do you prefer?

Each photo has it’s own feel. Both provide examples of different techniques. I think this one has a better impact because there is a stronger feel for composition. The colour one, I feel the composition is lost in the naturally saturated colour.

The colour one looks way better to me.

yehh i agree with Ben, both have a great feel but for different reasons, the light in the colour image brings a great warmth to the wharf and boat, but the composition is given a whole new feel through the contrasting light in the bw. LOVE the effect you captured with the slow shutter both in the sky and on the water.

Plus one for the colour version. The golden colours are too good to be converted to black and white, IMO.

Fair question. They’re actually both really great interpretations of the scene. Think I’m more fond of the this toned version, again for the reason suggested by Ben – the composition is strongly presented. Awesome!

Both gave me different feels but I love the way I feel on the colored one more :) So the colored one for me!
