Lewisham, Tasmania
Posted by Alex on May 20, 2010
Rain clouds rolling in at Lewisham, Tasmania. I was intending to drive further to Park Beach but the weather had other ideas. I realise this composition is similar to another photograph but with the rain setting in I had to make do with a quick photo before turning back and going home.
5 minutes at f.9 with a Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 17-40, B+W 110, Cokin Z-Pro .9 graduated neutral density filter and a tripod.

Hmm love the variety of the colours in the sky alex.
It is similar but the boats are a lot less pronounced so i think this works, in a different way.
Before you had the pole that was a big feature too.
I must ask, do you ever hide any easter eggs in your shots?

Thanks Jack! It was hard as I wanted to keep driving but with the rain setting in this jetty had to make do so the trip wasn’t a complete waste of time. What do you mean by easter eggs?

Hahaha like little hidden things in your shots arent easy to see.. i call them easter eggs.
Say i was to leave Stormy in each of my long exposures or something like that hahahaha.. ive thought about finding something new to incorporate into a few of my shots.. sort of like the hidden treasure.

Haha ahhh ok, I’m with you now. I’m not sure if I’d call them easter eggs but sometimes there’s things in my shots that I don’t like and I wonder if I’m just nitpicking or others notice it too. Imperfections I guess!

Hi Andrew,
That is a combination of normal and graduated neutral density filters allowing me to gain a longer exposure (5 minutes) and blur the sky. You can read up on them more here and here. This is all done in camera and not through photoshop.
Cheers,
