Roches Beach, Tasmania

Haven’t taken photos for a few months now with my last semester of uni in full swing and it has been killing me. I couldn’t resist the decent sized swell that came through this week exposing otherwise quiet beaches.

All photographs taken with a Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 17-40 and Cokin Z-Pro filters. EXIF data attached to images.

Hi Alex, i was googling ND filter and your post was the first to see, and i really learned a lot from it. I’m thinking about buying a ND filter for landscape photo shooting but I was a little bit confused about the differences between 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 ND filters. Since i’m just an amateur photographer, I don’t think it is necessary for me to get the ND filter kit which includes all these three filters. So I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions on which one might be a good option to start with. Thanks a lot!

Hi Tony. To be honest, I think possibly just purchase the .6 and .9 filters. I rarely use my .3 filter as it’s a little too light for my liking. Anyway hope that helps.

Really nice Alex.. #1 is awesome.

The detail in the rock is superb! And I like the watermovement too.

Big swells, photographers new best friends (except when they physically meet!)

Id have to totally agree with you there Alex… i hardly ever use my .3 (to the point where I would consider selling it to fund more stuff :) )
