NYE Star Trails

Posted by Alex Wise on January 7, 2011

The sky on new years eve was amazing.

I went to a friends shack at Slopen Main to celebrate bringing in the new year. It was really tempting to duck off and just spend the night taking star trail photos but I left it at the one in fear of being antisocial.

This was shot at a guess with a 27~ minute exposure, F.7 and ISO 400. It’s super noisy and if I had the time would have preferred to bracket 60~ or so shots at f/2.8 or f/4 and combine them in Photoshop to minimise noise. Ahh well.

I'm a twenty something male that currently lives in Melbourne, Australia. Originally from Tasmania, I moved to Melbourne in January 2011 and have since been shooting urban and seascape long exposures around Victoria. Away from photography I'm a sucker for a nice coffee, yoyo's and a good tv series.
