Collection of World Press Photo Winners From 1955-2011
Posted by Alex Wise on February 26, 2012

I saw this collection of World Press Photo Winners From 1955-2011 pop up in my feed earlier this morning and had to share it with you all. Sit down with a coffee and treat yourself to this amazing but powerful collection of images that have since gone on to become iconic photographs that help define certain periods.
I feel slightly uncomfortable picking a favourite due to the nature of the images but a stand out for me will always be the photograph captured from 1994 by James Nachtwey. I first came across James Nachtwey’s work much before I picked up a camera in around 2004 through the documentary War Photographer. A must watch for any photographer as it documents the dangerous job that is being a photographer during war times.
Head over to Buzzfeed to view the rest of the images in this powerful collection.

I watched a movie called the Bang Bang Club, you would really like it. It’s about press photographers in war, not sure if it is out on dvd here yet.

I’ve heard of that but was a little unsure if it would be good or not. I’ll try track it down, thanks!
