This is from earlier this year on sunrise at Taroona, Tasmania which is very close to the small city of Hobart. Probably one of my favourite spots for sunrise shots in Hobart, a nice beach and faces in a good direction for the sunrise.

Urrrrrrrrrrban exploration or urbex is something I enjoy, it’s so fiddly to get the light just how you want it which leaves me feeling I can re-shoot the same location over and over until it’s captured just how I want it. This was just an hour or so ago, unfortunately my torch died which killed the shoot and my mobile phone had to be used as a light source to navigate home, yeah that sucked. Anyhow this is beneath the gigantic city of Hobart cool huh?

Edit: A recent incident in Brisbane has left one man dead and another just surviving after visiting a similar underground like location during a storm. It’s on this note I just want to reiterate that when it rains, no drains but also my condolences to the family of the individual. If you have any questions about exploring such locations and are unsure about anything please get in touch with me as I may be able to offer assistance or direct you to people who live in your state who can show you around but also have experience.

The jury is still out with the panoramic? I’m a sucker for dark images but maybe a little too much especially around the background? What are your thoughts?

Ahh when I try to upload images the page goes blank after insertion, weird. Anyway this photo was captured in Binalong Bay, Tasmania during winter earlier this year A shame there wasn’t much movement in the sea.

Binalong Bay is part of the Bay of Fires which recently was highlighted in the Lonely Planet guide for 2009 for it’s pristine beaches. Probably my favourite location in Tasmania with its beautiful blue waters and white sand, I couldn’t recomend it more.

My wordpress is still acting up when I try to embed images in both firefox and internet explorer but I saved this one in my drafts last week. This is shot nearby where I live in Lindisfarne, Tasmania a quiet little place.

Getting your work stolen is weird, so disappointing that people have no respect and are more then happy to claim as their own. Yet the individual had my work deleted from their gallery however remains a member on DeviantArt. In my view they should be banned, stealing 50 images from a range of photographers and claiming them is ridiculious and should not be welcomed on any artistic community. But then again deviantart is a funny place. But anyway I really don’t understand how people get any satisfaction out of this? At the end of the day you’re only cheating yourself.

In the meantime I’m really loving this gallery check it.

Shooting with fellow photographer Ronnie Ling at Friendly Beaches, Tasmania earlier this year during winter. I love the East coast of Tasmania compared to more Southern areas, the rocks are just stunning. Hope you enjoy.

A quick photo from RSL’s, Tasmania with a black white conversion

A stunning red sunset at South Arm, Tasmania. As a kid we would come down and play around on our bodyboards as it always had a wave and was relatively uncrowded. Anyhow this is probably about 1 of 10 shots which all had varying water patterns around the rocks but this is one I preferred more. I’ll post up another shot later which is 25″ second exposure compared to this one which is more around 0.5″ seconds I think. This was shot with a Canon 350D, Canon 10-22, tripod, remote and Cokin ND grads. The filters really work a treat when the sky is like this.

A quick shot as I made my way through Sorell to Dodges Ferry for afternoon seascape photographs. The light had been dull and difussed all afternoon from the cloud coverage until a small empty pocket allowed the sun to light this rural setting.

I’ve been dying to shoot lately but with other commitments I’ve been too busy to drive for hours for sunsets or sunrises. So over the last few days I’ve just been snapping around my little city of Hobart during the day with a Hoya R72 infrared filter then converting to black and white.

Initially I was going to submit these individually but feel they stand better in a group. As I mentioned an infrared filter was used and most shots were of varying 3-7 minute exposures at F11-18.

One from Park Beach, Tasmania just around a hour out of the city of Hobart. I really don’t have anything much to say other then the new 5D Mark II 22 megapixel sensor is making my 350D 8MP sensor look very inferior. Is anyone upgrading?

A shot from this evening where it was cold and windy, not nice conditions to be shooting in but I got some interesting shots which made it worth it. I think this was originally going to be exposed for 7 minutes however I had to cut it short to a little over 5 minutes as there were strange people in the carpark near by little civic but all was ok.
