Canon 1000D & Canon 430EX II Released!
2008-06-10I’ve just noticed through dpreview that Canon has made some additions to its line up which includes a new Canon 1000D and Canon 430EX II.
‘Canon has announced the EOS 1000D (Kiss F), a new, entry-level DSLR that slots into the model line-up beneath the 450D. The 10 megapixel digital camera takes many of the new features of its big brother and presents them in a lighter, less expensive format that Canon hopes will re-shape the market in the same wayas the first Rebel (300D) did. No word yet from Canon US about their intentions.’
- 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor
- EOS Integrated Cleaning System
- 7-point wide-area AF system with f/5.6 cross-type centre point
- Up to 3 frames per second
- 2.5†LCD with Live View shooting
- DIGIC III image processor
- Compatible with SD and SDHC memory cards
- Compact and lightweight body
- Digital Photo Professional RAW processing software
- Fully compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites
‘Canon has today announced an update to its mid-range Speedlite 430 EX flash - the Speedlite 430EX II. The new model offers 20% shorter recycle times, a silent recycle process to minimise distraction and a new quick release and locking mechanism amongst other new features. When attached to an EOS camera the Speedlite 430EX II detects the sensor size and adjusts its angle of coverage accordingly.’

Not sure what to make of the announcement as I assume this is supposed to be an affordable body but wasn’t that the role of the 400D? Unless we are going to see the end of that range and could see further changes to the structure of the Canon line-up in the coming weeks? A affordable full frame series 3D/4D with one being better in features then the other while being more expensive would be a nice addition
