Arthur River, Tasmania

The ‘golden hour’ light hitting the logs sprawled along the Arthur River coastline on the Tasmanian west coast. I really struggled to get a nice balance of dynamic range over the whole image without resorting to HDR or blending exposures. In the end the image was shot with Cokin neutral density filters to under expose the sky a few stops which helped balance the exposure of the logs a little.

Morning Light at Taroona, Tasmania

Woke up randomly this morning and procrastinated whether to brave the cold and take a drive somewhere for a few seascape sunrise shots. I ended up getting out of bed after a struggle and fired a few at Taroona. This was around 3 and a half minutes at F.13 made possible with the trusty B+W 110 nd filter. In the past when shooting Taroona or any waterscape on sunrise for that matter, I’ve really struggled to get long exposures once the sun has risen so it was quite fun to have the opportunity to still obtain long exposures even though the scene was bright.

Just a random snap of afternoon light in Cremorne. Maybe a little too trigger happy with the saturation though ;)

Sorell, Tasmania — Afternoon Light

2008.10.06

A quick shot as I made my way through Sorell to Dodges Ferry for afternoon seascape photographs. The light had been dull and difussed all afternoon from the cloud coverage until a small empty pocket allowed the sun to light this rural setting.
