It’s so cold at the moment, 7 degrees for most of the day until it warms to a scorching 10 degrees. To keep warm I love my daily fix of coffee as I read of the problems encoutered by less developed countries who receive hazardous waste for quick financial gains. The reading is not by choice but for an essay but fourtunately it’s not too boring as my playlist of downtempo music like tosca, kruder & dorfmeister and blah adds a nice background tune.
This was shot with my Canon 350D, Canon 50 1.8 (nifty fifty) of a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine with freshly ground indonesian beans.

From time to time I like to make small updates about little things which I’ve learnt about my Rancilio Silvia and make a small post for anyone trolling around google. As such the relevant shots for each article aren’t taken for artistic merit but just to jazz things up a little so excuse my dirty machine and dribble 
Anthony at Ace Tampers has recently introduced an affordable range of tampers, great for any coffee snob. Mine arrived last week and has proved to make a huge difference in comparison to the crappy plastic tamper which Rancilio provide when you order your Silvia. The plastic tamper which you receive doesn’t properly fit which in turn can affect over or under extraction. I can’t recommend an after-market tamper enough as it properly fits my basket now and pours have improved dramatically.
