Tasmanian Urbex

2008-11-12

Urrrrrrrrrrban exploration or urbex is something I enjoy, it’s so fiddly to get the light just how you want it which leaves me feeling I can re-shoot the same location over and over until it’s captured just how I want it. This was just an hour or so ago, unfortunately my torch died which killed the shoot and my mobile phone had to be used as a light source to navigate home, yeah that sucked. Anyhow this is beneath the gigantic city of Hobart cool huh?

Edit: A recent incident in Brisbane has left one man dead and another just surviving after visiting a similar underground like location during a storm. It’s on this note I just want to reiterate that when it rains, no drains but also my condolences to the family of the individual. If you have any questions about exploring such locations and are unsure about anything please get in touch with me as I may be able to offer assistance or direct you to people who live in your state who can show you around but also have experience.

Hobart Rivulet Opening

2008-07-24

The Hobart rivulet has many openings as you slowly make your way up these tunnels underneath the city of Hobart. This is one shot in the opening which shows a city building back on as the night sky passes over.

I love DealExtreme.. A lens hood for my Canon 10-22 was going to cost around $17 on ebay but through DealExtreme $10 ;)

Hobart Rivulet

2008-07-12

An open section as you pass through the Hobart Rivulet. It’s a shame as the lights were once permanently on or could be turned on with ease but now the switch is locked up and you wander up the rivulet in darkness which is eerie.

For anyone interested in the historical side of the Hobart Rivulet there is a tour which is ran for $20~ and includes relevant safety gear + torches.

Underground Light Trails

2008-05-30

Hobart Urbex

I must return to this place and take more shots but have been so busy with uni lately.

For this shot I used a torch with coloured cd covers over the front to create light trails probably a little on the under-exposed side but whatever :)
