Seascape — South Arm, Tasmania

2010.02.11

A culled image that I’ve come back to a few times. I’ve always looked at the photo and wished the cloud was in the middle of the frame, not disappearing out of it. What can you do?

Simple Landscape Photography Tips

These are just a few things that I take into account before going on a shoot. They aren’t rocket science I’ll admit and are actually quite simple but I hope they help a little.

Tutorial: Blending in Photoshop

2009.06.12

Just a tutorial (err very rushed..) on blending images in Photoshop. I occasionally use this in my workflow as it’s a handy way of fixing over exposures or increasing dynamic range without resorting to hdr.

Cradle Mountain Stream

This was taken earlier at Cradle Mountain National Park during winter.  I know it sounds really corny but after days of rain this was just beautiful to walk through,  the smell from the surrounding wet trees was amazing.

Recently I got some calendars printed through Red Bubble to give as a Christmas gift to close friends and family. The above photographs really don’t do the calendars any justice, I’m really impressed with the print quality and presentation of the calendars for the relatively low price. If anyone is interested in a calendar please see this link or perhaps you may want to get some done of your own shots, I couldn’t recomend them more.

Friendly Beaches, Tasmania

Shooting with fellow photographer Ronnie Ling at Friendly Beaches, Tasmania earlier this year during winter. I love the East coast of Tasmania compared to more Southern areas, the rocks are just stunning. Hope you enjoy.

Quiet Stream — Cradle Mountain, Tasmania

2008.09.07

F.13 / 20 seconds

I’ve been meaning to submit this one for some time since I photographed it in July but kept forgetting. This was captured at Cradle Mountain National Park on a short walk to a much larger fall. We arrived late afternoon at around 3pm so it was already starting to get quite dark being the middle of winter which was a real shame, this place was stunning and I probably could of spent hours here just messing around getting my feet wet but were rushed a little.

Cradle Mountain Stream

Another from Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. Those familiar of the national park may recognise the bridge as you enter the park and pass a waterfall. This is up a little looking back at the bridge behind the waterfall. I was almost tempted to fiddle with black and white for this image as the sky really is quite dull but I’m attracted to the tones and texture of the foreground rock which would otherwise not be appreciated under a black and white conversion.

Udi at DIYPhotogaphy.net recently mentioned my work on his popular blog which I greatly appreciate :) It’s definately a big thing for me knowing my work is appreciated by others and is something that inspires me to continue shooting.
